Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture, a sweeping and atmospheric
seascape inspired by the wild Scottish coastline. Then, Principal
Cello Philip Higham brings glowing warmth and lyrical beauty to
Schumann’s Cello Concerto. Finally, the flames roar higher with
Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Music of unstoppable rhythm and
vitality, this symphony’s driving energy and jubilant spirit make it
one of the most exhilarating works ever written.
One of Scotland’s leading ensembles, the orchestra is recognised
for its distinctive sound and wide-ranging repertoire. Founded
in 1974, the ensemble performs regularly across the UK and
internationally.
