Shaam-e-Ghazal - Ghazals with Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan
Join us for a rare evening as we welcome the renowned Ghazal and Hindustani Classical vocalist, Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan, to New Zealand this August.
Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan hails from the prestigious Rampur Sahaswan Gharana, a family with deep roots in the Hindustani Classical tradition owing allegiance to Mian Tansen. He received his training under the expert guidance of his father, the Late Ustad Ghulam Sadiq Khan Sahab, a Padma Shri Awardee and an internationally acclaimed vocalist and guru. Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan is also the grandson of the late Ustad Mushtaq Husain Khan Sahab, the first recipient of the Padma Bhushan Award in the Hindustani Classical Vocal category.
Although an established musician in the Hindustani Classical genre, Ustad Ghulam Abbas Khan is equally celebrated for his soulful Ghazals in both Urdu and Persian. A poet himself, he has penned many of the Ghazals he performs. His mesmerizing performances have captivated audiences across the US, UK, Australia, and beyond.
