Join the Manchester and Macclesfield & East Cheshire branches of the British Cactus & Succulent Society at RHS Bridgewater again this August for a weekend dedicated to the fascinating world of cacti and succulents. Now in its fifth year, the event is more popular than ever. Here’s what to expect:• Cacti and Succulent Displays
See a display of mature cacti and succulents from the personal collections of Manchester and Macclesfield branch members.
• Plant Sales
Browse a wide range of plants from respected nurseries and growers from across the UK, including rare and unusual varieties not often found in garden centres. You’ll also find books, growing media, cactus-themed gifts, and other useful sundries. Sellers attending so far include ABC&S, John Carr, Graham Charles, Anthony Clarke, The Cactus Parlour, The Cactus Shop, Croston Cactus, Ian’s Haworthia Store, Ralph Martin, Tracey Marshall, Ian Robinson, Plantlife, Bruce Walton, William's Cactus, and Woodside Cacti.
• Fascinating Talks
Alongside the plant sales, we have a series of informative talks lined up from experienced speakers on propagation, cultivation, and getting started with cacti and succulents:
John Carr ‘Propagation is Fun’
Elizabeth Maddock ‘Hands on Cultivation’
Stuart Riley ‘A Guide to Cacti and Succulents for Beginners’
Ralph Martin ‘Flowering Cactus and Succulents’ (Saturday only)
Ian Robinson ‘Flowering Plants in a Cactus and Succulent Collection’ (Sunday only)
• Kids’ Corner
This family-friendly event includes pot painting activities to keep younger visitors occupied.
• Cultivation Advice & BCSS Info Point
Have a question? Experienced growers will be on hand throughout the weekend to offer free advice on all aspects of cactus and succulent cultivation. If you’d like to find out more, you can also join the British Cactus & Succulent Society on the day.
Whether you’re already a cactus enthusiast, or simply curious to learn more, there will be plenty to enjoy at RHS Bridgewater, so make a note of 22-23 August in your diary. We hope to see you there!
