Dates: Thursday, July 25, 2024, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Ticket: $80. Instructor: Lorain Pettit. Materials fee: none. Skills Needed: Participants must be comfortable with basic knitting skills, including using double pointed needles. Class Limit: 8
Have you ever knit a sweater from the bottom up only to have it not fit the way you wanted? Using a commercial pullover pattern, students will learn how to look at the pattern and make the necessary changes to be able to knit the sweater from the top down. Also, time permitting, the more adventurous can also try designing their own creation. If you have a specific pattern you would like to rework for top down, please bring it.
Supplies to Bring:
- Notebook and pen or pencil,
- worsted weight yarn and appropriate size double pointed needles,
- crochet hook about the same size as the needles being used,
- tapestry needle, stitch markers, and scissors.
- Your lunch and beverages.

Lorain has always been someone who enjoys “playing with string”. In addition to knitting, dyeing and weaving she also spins, crochets and needle tats. She is a lifelong resident of Northern Kentucky and currently lives in Florence with her dog, cat, fish and an embarrassingly large amount of string.
Depending on the CDC guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.
If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.
Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at [email protected] for permission before registering any minor in a class.
Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
