The concert opens with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Leonore No. 3, a gripping overture from his opera Fidelio, rich in themes of courage and redemption. Pianist Francis Camilleri then takes centre stage for Joseph Vella’s bold and expressive Piano Concerto, Op. 41, a work filled with rhythmic vitality and lyrical warmth.
The programme concludes with Felix Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5, the “Reformation” — a powerful tribute to faith and heritage, blending spiritual reflection with orchestral brilliance.
