About this Event
From its origins in the late nineteenth century, the Liturgical Movement transformed the life of the Roman Catholic Church, and led to some radical reforms. Since the Second Vatican Council the claim to ‘tradition’ has raged though, resulting in often polarised and hostile debate.
In this presentation, Fr. Matthew Catterick will explore recent developments in liturgical understanding, from the growing use of the Tridentine rite under Pope Benedictine, to its restriction by Pope Francis, and how now, with eyes on Pope Leo XIV, people are asking ‘what is ‘tradition’?’ and ‘what will come next?’
