About this Event

Rethinking Community Research Ecosystems: Evidence Begins with Experience Symposium, hosted by FAITH RESEARCH NETWORK and BLACK HEALTH LEGACY

The Academic, Community, and Research Implementation Programme (ACRIP), supported by the National Institute for Health and Social Care Research (NIHR), has established the Faith Research Network (FRN), which was launched on Wednesday, 7 May, at Christ Redeemer College in London.

This symposium, *Evidence Begins with Experience*, is the first in a series drawing on more than 25 years of awards and achievements across the NHS, public health, VCFSE settings, and international health systems.

Faith Research Network (VCFSE) and Black Health Legacy (Clinical) will also use this opportunity to launch a community research genomics survey and to sign a compact for the FRN CONNECT “Be Part of Community Research” Regional Roadshow, 2026–2027.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr Nola Ishmael in celebration of the 221st anniversary of Mary Seacole’s birth, titled “Passing the Baton from the Windrush Era.” This will be followed by a panel discussion, “The Next Steps.”

Presentations and Communities of Practice sessions will include:

- Workforce Community Integration Research Forum (WCIRF)

- Women’s Healthcare Research Alliance (WHRA)

- Prostate Healthcare Research Alliance (PHRA)

- Children and Young People Research Alliance (CYPRA)

- Community Research Involvement and Outreach Forum (CRIOF)

FRN Connect leads the on relationship building across institutions, networks and systems, including Amaree Women’s Network, the CRC Centre for Faith & Public Life, Faith Research Hubs, LearnPac Systems, Northwest London Urology Centre, RAFFA International Development Agency, The Errol McKellar Foundation, and 360 Degrees of Hope.
