About this Event
BLKNWS: Terms & Conditions (2025)
This special screening invites audiences to experience a genre-defying work that challenges how stories are told and how aesthetics shape our understanding of the present. Come ready to engage, reflect, and rethink the possibilities of cinematic form and contemporary art.
Rethinking Aesthetics is a yearlong initiative organized by Drs. Bedour Alagraa and Rikki Byrd in the African and African Diaspora Studies Department, based on the insights offered by Sylvia Wynter in her seminal essay, “Rethinking Aesthetics: Notes Towards A Deciphering Practice." This program is sponsored by the John L. Warfield Center for African and African American Studies, the University of Texas at Austin’s Department of African and African Diaspora Studies, and the Department of Radio-Television-Film.
After the screening, join us for a post-screening conversation with UT Faculty. Food and beverages will be provided.
