As Atlanta prepares to welcome the world once again for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Resurgence invites the city to reflect on the last time it stood on the global stage - the 1996 Olympic Games. Hosted at Atlanta Tech Village’s historic Sylvan Building, this immersive evening traces Atlanta’s rise from Olympic underdog to global city.
The exhibit features original works by Rich Godfrey — a creative force behind Atlanta’s 1996 Olympic bid — alongside historical artifacts and civic conversation. Through art and dialogue, we explore the belief, economic transformation, infrastructure decisions, and lasting tradeoffs that shaped modern Atlanta.
- What did the 1996 Olympics promise?
- How did they change the city?
- And what kind of Atlanta are we building for 2026?
The evening includes:
- Immersive exhibit walkthrough of Rich Godfrey’s Resurgence collection.
- Panel conversation with civic leaders and historians
- Light reception and community networking
Atlanta has always been a city in motion. Join us as we reflect on where we’ve been — and consider what comes next.
