Join us for an informal lunch event and discussion centred on Creative Methods
About this Event

Join us for an in-person event exploring creative research methods. Different examples of creative research methods will be presented and discussed, along with how these methods can be used at different stages of the research process.


Hear from a panel of distinguished speakers, including Professor Sophie Woodward (Sociology, The University of Manchester) and Professor Andrew Irving (Head of Department, Social Anthropology, The University of Manchester).


Through attending this event you will:

· connect with like-minded people interested in Creative Methods of Research and Practice, and in Dissemination and Evaluation


· learn about the use of different Creative Methods


· learn about ongoing Creative Manchester research


Speakers:


Sophie Woodward is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Manchester and carries out research into fashion, clothing, the home, material culture and everyday consumption. She is the author of five books, including recently on Material Methods: Researching and thinking with things. She is the Co-Director for the Morgan Centre for research into everyday lives and Co-Investigator for the NCRM (National Centre for Research Methods) where she leads on Creative Methods.


Andrew Irving researches sensory perception, time, illness, death, urban anthropology and experimental methods. Recent film, television and multi-media works include: See, Make, Sign (Exhibition; 2019, Children’s Museum of the Arts, New York). Wandering Scholars: Or How to Get in Touch with Strangers (Live film/sound installation: Österreichisches Museum für Volkskunde, Vienna, 2016) and The Man Who Almost Killed Himself (BBC, Odeon Cinemas, Edinburgh Festival 2015).
