About this Event
Join us this fall at the George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre for a series of hands-on mending workshops dedicated to giving clothes and textiles a second life. Whether you’re brand-new to sewing or an experienced stitcher, these sessions are a great way to learn practical repair skills, reduce waste, and connect with community.
Each month, we’ll focus on a different technique:
✨Saturday, October 18 – Darning Socks & Sweaters
Patch up holey socks and sweaters using a darning egg and other simple repair methods.
✨Saturday, November 1 – Hems, Fasteners & Quick Fixes
Learn the essential skills for hemming, fixing buttons, zippers, and other common sewing repairs.
✨Saturday, December 6 – Reversible Shopping Bag
Sew a sturdy, reusable, and reversible shopping bag—perfect for everyday use or gifting.
🧵Time & Place
All workshops run from 1:00–3:00 p.m. on the second floor of the George Chuvalo Neighbourhood Centre (50 Sousa Mendes St, Toronto).
