About this Event
From May 2026, the Renters’ Rights Act will bring some of the biggest changes to renting in a generation, including the end of no-fault evictions, new tenancy arrangements, and stronger protections for renters.
To support people across the West of England, to understand and navigate these changes, local organisations are coming together to deliver a single, coordinated awareness campaign, rooted in trusted community spaces and practical, accessible information.
This event is an opportunity for community organisations, charities, advice services, housing providers, faith groups and frontline services to hear about the campaign, share insight, and help shape how it works locally.
This will also be an opportunity to learn more about the key elements of the Renters Rights Act, how to talk about it, and launch our collaborative campaign toolkit and resources ahead of the campaign week, scheduled for week 27th April - 1st May 2026
Why this matters
Across the West of England, we estimate there are more than 300,000 people privately renting. From May this year, renting will change significantly. The new Renters’ Rights Act introduces stronger legal protections, reshapes how tenancies work, and ends practices such as no‑fault evictions.
When major reforms arrive, clear, trusted and accessible information is essential—especially for those most affected. That’s why organisations across the region are joining forces to deliver a coordinated awareness campaign: simple messages, real experiences, and practical help shared through the places people already trust.
Who should attend
This event is for anyone working directly with renters or landlords, including (but not limited to):
- Community groups and local charities
- Advice and support organisations
- Health and social care professionals
- Community centre staff and volunteers
- Foodbank teams
- University teams
- Local Authority teams (housing, adult social care, community teams, etc.)
- Housing‑focused groups or any frontline services
Essentially: If you regularly support people who may be affected by the new law—even if housing isn't your main area—you’re warmly invited
Please note: This is not an information session for renters or landlords directly.
