- SUMMARY -
In a small Norwegian village Ellida Wangel is perpetually aloof and unsatisfied missing her father the sea and the freedom of her youth. When she marries an older widower with two daughters she finds herself trapped inland daydreaming about a lost love. But is the entity who visits her dreams the sailor who pledged themselves to her many years ago? And is the stranger who comes to town the very same?
Meanwhile Ellida’s step-daughters negotiate their futures contemplating what currency they have to decide their future while fighting the suspicion they have already been bought. Ellida’s relationships with her step-daughters friends and husband lead her onto the stranger’s path–to understand her wildness to love without reservation to leave her sea legs behind–the answer surely lies with them.
