About this Event

This event will take place in the Roland Levinsky Building on the University of Plymouth main campus, in the Jill Craigie Cinema, located on the ground floor.

The History programme at the University of Plymouth in partnership with Breakwater Productions and the Careers Service, presents three student produced documentaries on Plymouth and the Southwest during the Second World War.

  • The first, 'The Thinker and the Rememberer' looks at the Blitz in Plymouth and how it is remembered.
  • The second, 'Cornwall and the War at Sea', looks at the experiences of two Cornishmen in the Royal Navy.
  • The final piece, entitled 'RAF Mount Batten' examines the role of Australian flying boat crews stationed in Plymouth.

All three documentaries were written, produced and presented by students from the Faculty of Arts with the guidance of Arezoo Farahzad and Gary Lovejoy at Breakwater Productions, and Dr Simon Topping, Head of the History Programme at Plymouth. This opportunity was coordinated by the Careers Service Internships Team, as part of their Careers Insight Programme (funded this year by Santader).
