The group therapy promotes psychological well-being through movement practice for people with relational trauma histories. It provides opportunities to explore the psychological implications of relationship patterns and to improve their relationships with themselves and others.
The facilitator is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst and utilizes the human movement study called Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis. The therapist was inspired by Carol's attachment theory (Adult Attachment Projective picture System), Dr. Bruce Perry's relational health, Infant-Parent Mental Health concept of "Serve and Return", and principles of Contact Improvisational Dance.
It is a closed group to provide a container for deeper exploration. Participants will learn and explore various movement qualities and identify movement patterns in their relationships with themselves and others. Participants will have a chance to discuss relationship challenges with the group to explore different patterns in the dynamic that may serve the relationship better. It occurs in the Fall and Spring.
