The City of Des Moines’ Office of Economic Development is beginning a Request for Proposals (RFP) process for the future reuse of the former Fire Station 4. Recently vacated by the Des Moines Fire Department, this well-maintained, historic building is ready for its next chapter.Before finalizing the RFP, we’re inviting community members to share ideas, priorities, and stories that can help guide what comes next.
OPEN HOUSE DATES
Tuesday, April 7 | 5pm – 7pm
Saturday, April 11 | 10am – 12pm

* Learn about the upcoming redevelopment process

* Built in 1954
* Building is approximately 8,600 square feet
* Located on a 0.75-acre site with additional parking
* One of the City’s older fire stations with a long history of service

RFP anticipated to be released: May 2026
Anticipated submission deadline: Late 2026
