Unlock the beauty of your heritage and join a legacy of excellence that spans nearly a century! From its humble beginnings in 1931 to becoming a pioneer in South African higher education, the Telugu language has a prestigious history of resilience and pride.
Whether you are looking to reconnect with your roots or master a new skill, our classes offer a bridge to a rich cultural identity.
Why Learn Telugu with Us?
Learning a language is more than just memorizing words—it’s about belonging. Here is why our program stands out:
Did you know that Telugu is known as the Italian of the East ? due to its melodic, vowel-ending structure (ending in a, i, u, e, o), similar to Italian. This term was coined by 15th-century Italian traveler Niccolò de' Conti, who was struck by its soft, musical sound while visiting the Vijayanagara Empire, questioning if it was "language or music".
Expert-Led Curriculum: Benefit from decades of academic refinement, featuring materials developed by renowned scholars like Mrs. V. Prabhakaran and Mr. V. Latchanna.
Free Tuition: We believe culture should be accessible to everyone. AMSSATA offers free classes for both children and adults.
Comprehensive Learning: We guide you from the basics all the way to the Senior Certificate level, using our very own specialized primer, Telugu Chadhuvu.
Our Journey at a Glance
1931: First Paatashalas established for children and adults.
1948: History made! Telugu recognized as a degree subject at the University level.
1984: Telugu classes officially introduced into state schools.
2003: The Telugu Academy opens its doors at the Andhra Cultural Centre.
"To speak a language is to take on a world, a culture."
Join the AMSSATA family and carry forward the torch lit by pioneers like Mr. L. Kris Naidoo and Pundit Varadacharyulu.
