About this Event
As part of Refugee Week, join us to explore how the Rowntree family and company supported refugees across the twentieth century.
Through three powerful case studies, we will share stories of Belgian refugees during the First World War, The Mount alumni Jean and Tessa Rowntree’s work in Prague ahead of the Nazi invasion, and the resettlement of Ugandan Asian refugees in York during the 1970s.
This event will also highlight our ongoing work with refugee groups and communities in York, bringing past and present experiences together. There will be an exhibition and a talk featuring several speakers.
Doors open at 13:30, the talk starts at 14:00.
Please use The Mount School's main entrance on Dalton Terrace.
