About this Event
My Octopus Teacher
They say the sea keeps its secrets close, whispering them only to those foolish or brave enough to listen. In the cold, kelp-tangled waters of False Bay, a man named Craig Foster went looking for nothing more than silence. What he found was a teacher.
She was a creature of otherworldly intelligence, a pulse of life in a forest of green gold. For a year, he visited her world - a world of shocking violence and tender grace, where a pyjama sharkโs bite is a fact of life, and the slow regrowth of a limb is a lesson in patience. She showed him how to survive, how to create and in the end, how to let go.
This is a story of a friendship that crossed the boundary between species, a love song to the wild that will leave you with the salt of the ocean on your skin and an ache of wonder in your chest.
