About this Event
Midnight in Paris
I tell you, there was a golden haze upon that city, a melancholy magic that hung in the air like the scent of wine and blooming chestnuts. And in the midst of it was Gil, a man out of time, or perhaps finally in it - we could never quite decide.
He was one of those earnest, troubled souls who believed our age, this careless, sparkling riot we called the twenties, was the answer to some longing in his heart. He’d appear at midnight, a ghost from a future we never dreamed of, his eyes wide with the wonder of it all - of Zelda’s laugh, of Hemingway’s bluster, of the divine madness of a Paris that will never exist again, except in memory.
He was in love with a dream of the past, you see, while the girl he left in his own time was a monument to a sterile future. It was a beautiful, heartbreaking predicament. For what is more tragic than a man who finds his paradise, only to discover it is, and always was, a beautiful ruin?
So come, join us for a nostalgic romp. Let the lights go down and let the past wash over you. Perhaps you, too, will hear the ghost of a motorcar at midnight, and believe, for a moment, in the green light of a distant, enchanted hour.
