ReDye to ReLove at Melrose Trading Post's Fashion Week
Sunday, March 22. This workshop includes a dyeable garment or accessory, complete instructions, all dyes and supplies, and ReDye and Reveal activity! All situated right next to the Fashion Show Runway, in the center of the action! (MTP's fashion show will take place from 1-3p!)
Why learn how to ReDye your clothes?
We all have that favorite clothing item that got stained or discolored and now it just sits in the back of the closet, longing to be loved again. Start loving your clothes again by giving new life to old styles with ReDye techniques! Learn how to blend in the stain with new colors and patterns so that you can start wearing all those favorite styles again!
Keeping items in use and out of landfill is a key principle of the Circular Economy and being sustainable. ReDye is a great way to give a whole new look to old, boring or basic clothes and bring them back to life.
What to expect:
- Arrive anytime between 9:00a and 4:30p. Your workshop will last 20-30 minutes per garment.
- Choose one of our dyeable garments - we have XS-2XL mens and women's clothes to choose from. You may also bring in your own item to ReDye for the same price. You may purchase additional garments to ReDye onsite for $10 each.
- See examples and receive complete instructions for how to ReDye your item onsite.
- Reveal your ReDye and leave with your newly ReDyed garment and all instructions for how to wash and care for it at home.
Type of dye we use:
We use Rit Dye Proline for most of our garment ReDyes. This is because, we've found it offers the best and brightest colors for a wide variety of fiber blends and it meets our minimum standards for sustainability, including non-toxic and sewer/septic/home-use safe. It is also widely available for consumer purchase so is a great dye to learn how to use on your own! Learn more about Rit Dye here.
What's included in the Workshop Experience:
- Choose from a wide variety of dyeable clothes for men and women sizes XS-2XL. 1 dyeable clothing item is included with the workshop. You may also bring your own garment!
- Instructions and recommendations for how to ReDye your selected garment and give it new life! A variety of dye treatments with instructions will be available to choose from. ReDye the garment onsite!
- Fun reveal activity showing off your fresh new ReDyed look!
- Take home bag with rinse and wash instructions so you can wear your newly ReDyed garment with pride!
Additional Fees and Considerations:
- You may bring in your own item to ReDye for the same price.
- You may purchase additional items for $10ea onsite
- Entrance fee to Melrose Trading Post is $6.
