A journey to London's main airport using a non traditional route via Uxbridge
About this Event

Our Red Explorer tours can be considered alternative London sightseeing tours. The idea is to view and appreciate interesting locations that are away from main tourist sites. London’s extensive London transport network is usually used to facilitate this.

This explorer tour involves a journey into west and north west London before, reaching the ultimate destination of Heathrow airport. Our main transport of choice is the super successful Oxford Tube coach service. We leave the coach at Hillingdon before taking a one stop tube journey to Uxbridge where we transfer to the Flightline 102 service for the relatively short journey into the airport.

Towards the start of the trip, we view some of the most expensive areas of real estate in the country. So the super expensive hotels in park lane, and the prime property locations of Bayswater and Notting Hill. Later we join the arterial A40 and pass industrial sites developed during the 20th century, as well as the more modern high rise residential developments. The Flightline service completes the journey by whisking us quickly from the suburbs and into Heathrow. The official tour ends here and we are free to explore the airport at our leisure.

Please be aware that we are not using standard tfl services today, so the fare structure is different. The Oxford tube fare is from £10.00, and the flightline fare is £2. Thanks to the current government scheme. Additionally, we have a one stop zone 6 fare for the tube. Note that the “pay on the day" Oxford Tube fare is more expensive than purchasing in advance on their app. If you book on the app please be aware that Hillingdon is not an option, you need to book High Wycombe instead, the fare is the same. We aim to join the 10.45 am coach leaving from bus stop 10 in Buckingham Palace Road. Its within sight of the meeting point outside the main entrance to Victoria coach station. All fares are at your own expense. The overall journey time to the airport is approx 90 minutes.
