The Red Bull Basement Innovation Manchester is a high-energy, idea-first workshop where students create, refine and pitch ideas in front of a live panel of judges. Whether you come solo or in a pair, this is your chance to build skills, challenge your thinking and step into a competitive, collaborative environment.

Red Bull Basement is a global innovation programme for students, designed to support and develop ideas that can make a real impact. It connects students with tools, mentors and industry opportunities to help take ideas further.

The session opens with an introduction to the day and an overview of Red Bull Basement. You’ll learn:

• What the programme is
• The national and global opportunities available
• What makes a strong idea
• How your concept can go beyond the workshop

All participants will be encouraged to submit their idea as part of the Red Bull Basement application process.

Hear from LYLO, Red Bull Basement Global Winners, who created an innovative water sustainability solution and have since partnered with organisations including Siemens and Imperial College London.

This talk is designed to:

• Give real-world insight
• Inspire ideas
• Challenge your thinking before the workshop begins
  

You’ll take part in a structured ideation sprint, working either solo or in pairs. You’ll be competing against other students from a range of courses in a competitive but collaborative environment.

You’ll develop your idea by answering four key questions:

• What is your idea in one sentence?
• Who would benefit from your idea?
• What challenges will be solved with your idea?
• How will you bring your idea to life?

Red Bull team members and mentors will move around the room to challenge and develop your thinking in real time.

You’ll present your idea live in front of a judging panel including:

• Previous Red Bull Basement Winners
• Content Creator - SturdyThoughts
• Industry Expert

Each pitch is short, focused and high-energy, judged on:

• Innovation
• Clarity
• Feasibility
• Impact

Audience members will also engage through live voting.

This event is designed to develop practical, transferable skills including:

• Public speaking and pitching
• Creative thinking and innovation
• Problem solving
• Communication under pressure
• Idea structuring and clarity
• Confidence presenting in front of industry figures
