Toshi Odaira graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, ME with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2014 from CUNY Graduate Center/Hunter College in New York, NY. Her career in physical therapy began in an outpatient orthopedic clinic in Chicago, IL, where she trained in functional manual therapy and took extensive coursework with Institute of Physical Art. As her interest in pelvic health grew, she began taking coursework through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute—from which she earned her Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification. She also practices visceral manipulation through training offered by The Barral Institute. Since Fall of 2019, Toshi has been working at Northwestern Medicine’s Center for Complex Gynecology/Center for Sexual Medicine and Menopause in downtown Chicago. She primarily works with individuals suffering from chronic pelvic pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. Many of her patients present with comorbidities such as gastrointestinal dysfunction, genitourinary and sexual dysfunction, and have a history of trauma. Toshi applies her training to help patients heal themselves and reach their potential. On her days off, she enjoys being out in the sun with her family, relaxing with a good book, and teaching salsa classes with her husband.
