Reading Promise Week - Reading & Song: with a Taste of Art

Free Library of Philadelphia and Read by 4th present their annual READING PROMISE WEEK!

The Study at University City is delighted to host a premier Reading Promise Week event in partnership with the Marian Anderson Historical Foundation and Opera Philadelphia.

Children will enjoy an interactive reading of Marian Anderson's illustrative children's book, ”When Marian Sang”, with visuals and live music by Opera Philadelphia (Megnot Toggia, soprano, Cory Walker, tenor, Jinhyun Park, piano).

Complimentary Marian Anderson coloring books and crayola supplies are courtesy of The Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society.

Jillian Pirtle, CEO of the Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society, will showcase rare artifacts of the musical icon.

Artwork from students of Martha Washington School will be on display in the hotel's art gallery, featuring the children's visual interpretation of Marian’s music.
