The Rongotai College Old Boys’ Association, alongside the Rongotai Best Academy, is proud to present the next chapter of The Banner Project, an initiative celebrating the proud sporting legacy of Rongotai College and bringing it visibly into the life of the school today, reflecting the values of Striving for Excellence and Taking Pride.Following the unveiling of the 1980 Basketball National Title banner in 2022, we now move into Phase 2, recognising five historic Football National Title winning teams from 1974, 1975, 1977, 1979, and 1989.
These banners will be formally unveiled as part of a full day of celebration on Wednesday 3 June 2026 📅 .
We warmly invite Old Boys, whānau, students, and friends of the College to join us for a day of connection, reflection, and celebration of Rongotai’s sporting legacy.
Programme for the day:
⚽ Traditional Fixtures: from 12:30pm
🍰 Afternoon Tea (Renner Hall): 3:30pm – 4:15pm
🏫 School Tour or ParrotDog Brewery: 4:15pm – 5:30pm
🏆 Banner Unveiling (Gymnasium): 5:30pm – 6pm
🍻 Drinks and Nibbles (Lyall Bay Bowling Club): 6pm – 8pm
This day represents more than recognition of past success. It is about bringing history into the present, strengthening connection across generations, and continuing to build pride in what it means to be part of Rongotai College.
