The full moon was traditionally a time when the Buddha's followers would gather together to meditate, discuss the Dharma and perform collective rituals (pujas).Ritual is an important part of Buddhism as it helps create the necessary emotional connection with the teachings and the Buddhist tradition through our senses, rather than through our intellect.
Pujas include chanting mantras together; reciting verses or scriptures and making actions like offering a flower, candle or incense. Each of which has a symbolic meaning.
You are free to take part in as much or as little of the puja as you like.
