About this Event
This art workshop, led by Rachel Sutherland, is in connection with the exhibition Joan Eardley: The Sea at Catterline. This is being held at The Granary Gallery, Dewars Lane, Berwick TD151HJ from 6th June -11th October 2026, Weds -Sun 11 -4pm, standard entry £7.50.
Throughout the day we will discuss and explore the depiction of raw, expressive sea/landscapes. We will investigate how to render energy and textures and how to use colour in dramatic weather conditions. You will choose the techniques that you find most comfortable to produce your own expressive work, and you will then go on to produce your own painting of Catterline or of the Berwickshire or Northumberland coast.
The workshop begins at 10am with a short tour of the exhibition by Rachel, after which we return to the conference room where Rachel will introduce the themes of the day as inspired by the exhibition.
