About this Event
This art workshop, led by Rachel Sutherland, is in connection with the exhibition Joan Eardley: The Sea at Catterline. This is being held at The Granary Gallery, Dewars Lane, Berwick TD151HJ from 6th June -11th October 2026, Weds -Sun 11 -4pm, standard entry £7.50.
During this workshop we will study Eardley’s Glasgow kids as seen in their gritty environment which she makes so colourful. We will examine her guileless rendition which we will attempt to understand and interpret.
The workshop begins at 10am with a short tour of the exhibition by Rachel, after which we return to the conference room where Rachel will introduce the themes of the day as inspired by the exhibition. We break for lunch at 12.30 and you can bring a packed lunch or buy food from the cafe downstairs. We resume at 1pm and finish at 3pm. Beginners or more experienced students are welcome. There are 11 places available.
Materials to bring:
Paper, board or canvas, A4, A3or A2
Brushes, pencils and a black marker or Sharpie.
Acrylic or water based paints
2 water pots
Glue (Prit stick)
Scissors
Old magazine (or parts of) for graffiti collage
Sweetie wrappers
