REGISTRATION AVAILABLE BEGINNING AUGUST 10TH
Chicago for Chicagoans is thrilled to bring back our tour exploring the wonders of the Ravenswood Industrial Corridor! Led by transportation history enthusiast Walter Kiefer, this adventure will dive into the many historic gems of Ravenswood's Metra-adjacent commercial properties.
Beginning at the Irving Park Brown Line, the tour will cover the history, architecture, and development of an area that's bustled with business since the turn of the 20th century. Learn how transit resources played a role in attracting manufacturing powerhouses that made everything from movie cameras, to vibraphones, to the first-ever LEGO bricks! After the tour, participants are encouraged to join the group for beverage at Dovetail Brewery— one of many craft brewers that make up the neighborhood's contemporary "Malt Row."
Chicago for Chicagoans happily exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service. A suggested tip of $10-20 per person is always appreciated, but reviewing us on Yelp, liking us on Facebook, spreading the word, and attending future tours tells us how much you love us too! We are a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates inclusive walking tours by & for Chicago residents, designed to represent the histories of all Chicagoans.
