About this Event
You may be interested in coming to a RasaLab if you are interested in the following questions:
- Where is theatricality located in the body?
- Which elements of physicality do you use to communicate emotion to others in performance or in everyday life?
- Does changing your expression change how you feel?
- How do you invite others to taste your emotion to elicit empathy, or to hold boundaries
- How can you increase authenticity when performing on stage/on camera/in daily life?
What is a RasaLab?
Whether you are working on a performance or artistic project, interested in the science of emotion or you’re seeking new methods to regulate your emotions through movement, this RasaLab is a place of self discovery for movers of all types, especially those interested in psychophysical work.
This introductory workshop will guide you through a series of exercises to explore the ancient Indian theater concept of rasathrough Richard Schechner’s rasaboxes actor training technique.
No acting experience is necessary. All the emotions, interactions and life experiences you’ve lived to date are preparation enough.
This workshop will explore the rasaboxes through the lens of Emotive Agility, the ability all humans have to manage emotions through their own physicality.
Participants will draw direct applications from Emotive Agility trianing to build skills in navigating challenging conversations.
What to Expect:
This workshop involves invitations to breath work, voice work, yoga-like movements and some improvised interaction. Everyone participates at their own level.
