Journey through Maharashtra’s rich musical heritage with Marathi singer Ketakee Mategaonkar, as timeless traditions and contemporary sounds come alive in a vibrant evening of song and storytelling.
On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, acclaimed singer and actor Ketakee Mategaonkar offers a heartfelt tribute to the state’s rich musical heritage with a performance that transcends the boundaries of a traditional concert. Conceived as a narrative-led experience, the evening unfolds as a seamless journey, guided by the evocative idea of ‘maati’ - soil, as both origin and enduring inspiration.
Titled Ranga Maza Vegala, the production traces state’s unique soundscape, moving from the devotional chants of the Varkaris to the theatrical grandeur of Natyasangeet and the ever-evolving melodies of Marathi cinema. Each segment flows naturally into the next, weaving a rich narrative that honours both tradition and transformation.
Ketakee’s classical training under Devaki Pandit and Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar, coupled with her acclaimed work in film and playback singing, brings depth and authenticity to the stage. Her performances in films like Shala, Timepass, and Kaksparsha, along with collaborations with maestros such as Ilaiyaraaja, allow her to bridge the gap between the rooted and the contemporary.
Through music and storytelling, the evening paints a layered portrait of Maharashtra, celebrating its cultural diversity while remaining intimate and deeply personal in its expression.
