2 pm: Random Old Lady: (ROL aka Barb Shaw) patrols the city on her Chopper, guitar slung across her back - writing bluesy, edgy, Country Swing anthems - and she knows you secretly love to sing along! Using age and invisibility as a super power, she can knock out a rhythm aimed at climate criminals, zap you with a punch line, bring together a community in song, or just plain tell it like it is. 3.05 pm: Teapot Tempest - a contra dance band, consisting of a fiddler (Michael Burnyeat), a guitarist (Joe Bourchier), and Russell Shumsky on vibraphone and djembé. They're active in the Vancouver Country Dance community and will be have a dance caller for their set.
A comment on an April performance said "Teapot Tempest absolutely simmered and then boiled over in the best way possible. The music was outstanding, but can we talk about that drumming? The moment those beats kicked in, the energy in the room went from "lovely evening" to "is the floor going to survive this?""
4.10 pm: Deep Cove Big Band - have since the ’80s, entertained the Vancouver area with an enthusiastic approach, now led by bandleader Casey Thomas-Burns. We play a mix of Big Band classics and newer material – always with a tempting finger-snapping swing.
