About this Event
“RAIN MUSIC” Sunday March 16, 3:00pm. Admiral Church, 4320 SW Hill St, West Seattle 98116. Post-concert “meet the composer” gala reception.
Join us for an up-close and personal afternoon of remarkable music, showcasing the World Premiere of “17 Names for Rain” by Pacific Northwest composer Sean Osborn. This new work for piano, clarinet, violin and cello includes brushing of the piano strings with a tooth brush, mysterious thumps, extended techniques for the strings and clarinet and some "alternative rock" writing, with a punchy, syncopated bass line. The clarinetist will be the composer himself!
The concert also features music by Debussy, Chopin, William Grant Still and Nadia Boulanger for clarinet, violin, cello and piano in various combinations. In addition to Sean Osborn on clarinet, other artists include Emily Hu, cello; Quinn Price, violin; and Jane Harty, piano. Stay after the concert to enjoy some bubbly, canapés and intimate conversation with the composer and other musicians.
DON’T MISS THIS RARE OPPORTUNITY!
Tickets range from $18 to $20 and can be reserved at www.musicnorthwest.org. Students under age 25 may call (206) 937-9792 at least 24 hours in advance to qualify for free admission.
