Rafta, Rafta… — is Ayub Khan-Din’s hilarious and touching English comedy, adapted from Bill Naughton’s beloved 1963 play ‘All In Good Time’. Khan-Din masterfully transplants Naughton’s working-class world into the heart of a migrant Indian family, creating something that feels both richly specific and universally relatable.
A young newlywed couple find themselves unable to consummate their marriage and with meddling family members at every turn, what follows is a perfect storm of razor-sharp wit, gloriously real characters, and chaos that only a close-knit family can produce.
But beneath the laughter lies genuine heart. This is comedy that will have you in stitches one moment and unexpectedly moved the next — the kind of night at the theatre you simply don’t want to miss.
Having wowed audiences at the National Theatre in London and on Broadway in New York, Rafta, Rafta… now comes to Perth, brought to life by local acting talent at the Nexus Theatre, Murdoch University.
