Radical herbalism, the roots and branches of structural inequality in our healthcare systems, and routes to community-nurtured healingA 3-week group programme with community medical herbalist Rasheeqa Ahmad (Hedge Herbs) uncovering and exploring:
-Radical herbal histories in our worlds
-How the processes and stories of the past directly lead us to where we are now
-Movements and determinations in community repair, health and healing today
With information sharing, held group exchange, discussion & support, and collective future visioning and making
This new programme in Walthamstow is based on the online Herbal Story Hour that I did in the lockdown time, when I delved into herbal histories and the narratives of power imbalance through time that resound today in how we relate to each other and how health and care express and play out in our systems - or fail to. In specific relation to herbal medicine, which seeks to go to the roots of ill health and look at health in its widest contexts - whole health, of all of us in this earth and universe - it is illuminating to behold the patterns of imbalance in order to seek to address them. In this series I invite you to come together to do this collectively and intentionally, to practice holism and to connect with plant medicine as a supportive frame, a healing lens and a practical life action.
We will learn together, share experiences and inspirations and make a little medicine.
DATES & TIMES with outline:
Friday 4th October, 12-2.30pm / introducing of themes + sharing of histories, group exchange, envisioning other stories, making a remedy in response to today
Friday 11th October, 12-2.30pm / the surface and the hidden; dissonant histories and realities, inequities in healthcare and our responses, sharing our models of community healthcare, making a remedy in response to today
Friday 18th October, 12-2.30pm / hope and movement: community and radical herbalism activity today in the UK and around the world, how/what we might be acting and doing in our contexts, making a remedy in response to today

I ask that if you book on, you are able to commit to all 3 sessions.
Places are charged on a sliding scale - £90, £135 or £180 for the 3 sessions, inviting you to pay what you can best afford. If you are able to give more this supports others who are able to give less.
