The Stimming Pool is an award-winning experimental and sometimes magical hybrid film whose drifting form is built around the concept of an autistic camera. After the screening, we will be joined by co-directors Georgia Bradburn, a member of the Neurocultures Collective, and Steven Eastwood, for a discussion exploring themes of neurodiversity, film and the visual arts as a medium to explore the possibilities of a world informed by autistic perspectives and perception.

The event is in collaboration with the 50th anniversary celebrations of Disability Law Service, a unique charity that has been providing free legal advice and representation for Disabled people since 1975.

Radical Film School is a free programme for marginalised participants dedicated to developing, advocating for, and supporting a new generation of political filmmakers that is empowered, diverse, radical, fearlessly creative, and represents the future of the UK's art cinema.

The Stimming Pool synopsis:

The Stimming Pool is a unique film exploring a world shaped by neurodiverse perspectives. The narrative unfolds through an autistic camera, capturing diverse subjects navigating environments both challenging and comforting. Characters, some concealing their autism, others thriving in their communities, share a common goal: finding a space free from societal norms—the Stimming Pool.

About the directors:

The Stimming Pool was made by the Neurocultures Collective (a collective of neurodiverse directors; Sam Chown Ahern, Georgia Bradburn, Benjamin Brown, Robin Elliott-Knowles, Lucy Walker) and Steven Eastwood.

Tickets:

The film screening tickets are on a sliding scale. Regular tickets are £10, for low-income attendees there are £5 tickets.
