About this Event
ROAR Team 8 welcomes Joshua Holloway and Kenton Willem (aka Kenni) for Radical Acceptance!
Joshua Holloway discovered a love for music and performance as soon as his mom could prop him up at the piano when he was two years old. Since then, he’s spent most days and nights scribbling down song lyrics and mumbling melodies. Along the way, he's earned his Diploma of Music from VIU, undergone musical theatre training at AMDA in New York City, released a debut synthpop album (‘WONDER’, 2021), and launched an original musical (‘Distance’, 2023).
Joshua couldn’t be more grateful to be working with the incredible people at ROAR in bringing this fundraiser to life. He hopes you too feel the radical optimism woven through all of this afternoon’s music.
Kenton Willem (aka Kenni) is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger from Nanaimo, B.C., whose music is guided by intuition and rooted in emotional connection. A Jimmy Lyons full-tuition scholarship recipient and Berklee College of Music graduate, Kenton completed a dual degree in performance and jazz composition with a minor in conducting, and has performed with ensembles ranging from intimate duos to full big bands. Alongside performing and composing, Kenton teaches piano, saxophone, voice, and flute at Kenton’s Lesson Studio and directs Nanaimo’s AVIVA Chorus, while crafting their debut album of original music exploring themes of resilience, identity, and freedom through lyrical melodies and rich harmonic textures.
ROAR is a volunteer society of LGBT people and allies, dedicated to providing a safe haven to LGBT refugees facing persecution in their countries of origin. Our Team thanks Joshua Holloway and Kenton Willem and promises that funds raised will be used to support an LGBT refugee in need.
