What was Operation “Hyacinth” carried out by the Citizens’ Militia in the 1980s, and what secrets were hidden in the so-called “pink files”? Why is the Equality Parade called that, and what were its beginnings? What queer spaces are hidden in the city’s underground side? What stories can be discovered in Poland’s first and the world’s fifth Queer Museum?
We will dive into the past, reflect on the present, and discuss whether non-heteronormative people can feel safe in Warsaw. We will also talk about why nationalists have a grudge against Maria Konopnicka and where Zofia Sadowska—the first Polish female doctor fighting for women’s rights, whose private life was a scandal in interwar Warsaw—had her office.
💶 The walk is tip-based – each participant decides independently on the amount of financial support according to their own means and discretion. Most participants usually leave a tip of around €20 / 80 zł, but any contribution is welcome.
