About this Event
Jonny Whitlam speaks with historian Samuel Clowes Huneke about his new book I Will Not Abandon You: Queer Women in Nazi Germany.
Huneke’s work recounts the lived experiences of queer women under Nazi rule, showing how they faced state harassment, surveillance, imprisonment and deportation while maintaining love, solidarity and networks of resistance amid repression. The book draws on over a decade of archival research to follow a diverse cast of women whose lives were shaped by Nazi homophobia and social policing, and it reframes how we understand persecution and community under fascism.
Hosted in the cosy and charming Geist im Glas bar, the evening will feature a moderated discussion followed by audience questions and open conversation.
Come along, grab a drink, and join in!
