About this Event
2SLGBTQIA+ rights are under attack and we need to take action. Freedom, human rights, and democracy itself are at stake. To respond to these crises, we need to engage all parts of the queer movement - one community and one conversation, at a time.
That’s why we are bringing the movement together through townhall events across Canada - including one right here in Toronto. This gathering is a wake up call, a rallying point. We’re going to bring joy back to the queer movement — with love, humour, rage and defiance too.
But we can’t do it alone, or in isolation. We need to connect local struggles back into a national movement, to empower grassroots activists and build plans to uphold our rights and reject attacks on our community.
Join two of Canada’s leading trans activists (and trouble-makers) Fae Johnstone (Executive Director of Queer Momentum and movement veteran) and Victoria Bucholtz (Executive Director of TransAction Alberta, drag queen, comic, and professor) alongside local movement leaders you know and love for an afternoon of fiery speeches, discussion, queer joy, and advocacy planning.
What’s the agenda?
- A Welcome by Fae, Victoria and local partners
- A panel discussion featuring local movement leaders sharing their advice and hot takes on building queer power
- Breakout discussions to build relationships, identify issues, explore solutions and plan next steps
- Movement Mapping to build a nation-wide Grassroots Queer Mobilizer Library, filled with strategies and tools built from community-led experience
We’re not sitting by while freedom, acceptance and democracy die around us. We’re not tapping out when rights are under threat. We’re going to organize, educate, advocate and celebrate our way towards a better future — and you can too.
This event is brought to you by Queer Momentum, TransAction Alberta and Fierte Canada Pride, alongside Pride Toronto.
