About this Event
Get the chance to roam the shop, browse the rails of vintage clothes, and have a space to discover new finds. Who knows what you might find? Cassettes of your favourite artists, a glittery skirt, or a say something hat from the 90s.
Hosted by artist and local queer Gloria (artist and youth worker Jack Wilkin), the evening will be filled with music and games, complete with quirky prizes. Plus the fab folk at Sue Ryder are giving everyone who attends 10% off their purchases.
The event will also be raising funds for The Kite Trust who’s work supports the wellbeing and creativity of LGBTQ+ young people in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and surrounding areas through information, support and groups. You can donate through Eventbrite and there will be donation tubs at the venue.
This event is part of A Fruity Summer: A month of free events for LGBTQIA+ young people in Peterborough.
About Gloria / Jack Wilkin (they/them or he/him)
Gloria is Jack’s camp, sequin wielding persona who finds power in laughter and holding safer spaces for LGBTQIA+ young people. When the sequins are packed away, Jack is an artist, youth worker and facilitator based in Peterborough.
Icebreaker questions and rule bending are key to Jack’s work as a facilitator, youth worker and performer. Using play, workshops and a sprinkling of camp, they connect with communities and young people to challenge restrictions and traditional expectations. Jack wants audiences to discover how fun and joy can be used to provoke and question, and how laughter can be used as a radical act.
