Seamas Hyland, originally from Waterford, now living in Dublin is an accordionist who focuses on both traditional as well as experimental music. His music is heavily influenced by the culture of west Waterford where set dancing is an intrinsic part of the tradition. More recently he has incorporated modern influences into his music such as using field recordings and collaborating with other artists from non traditional backgrounds. He enjoys exploring the varied sonic capabilities of the button accordion and playing with different contrasting styles. Hyland weaves sonic landscapes ranging from pulsating rhythmic dance music to slow ethereal ambient chordal sweeps.
