About this Event
Pysanka Workshops Are Back!
Let’s explore the Art of Ukrainian Easter Egg Writing.
Join us for a hands-on Pysanka workshop where a skilled Pysanka
Artist will guide you step by step in creating your own beautifully designed,
richly coloured Ukrainian Easter Egg.
Using the traditional method ( wax resist or batik) each design is “written”
onto the shell using hot beeswax and a stylus called a kistka before the dyes are
applied. Similar to batik, the wax-resist technique protects the surface from the
dye, revealing intricate patterns as the wax is removed.
✨
New this year! Explore the Lemko “drop-and-pull” method, a technique for
designing and colouring the shell with distinctive flowing patterns.
