Our Annual Purple Walk & Family Fun Day 4 Epilepsy WA is back on Sunday 17th March at Curtin University’s Edinburgh Oval South from 1030am - 130pm. Gather your family and friends, wear your favourite purple and come along to meet friends old and new. Join in the fun and help to raise epilepsy awareness and vital funds for Epilepsy WA as we shine a light on a condition that affects a staggering 1 in 25 West Aussies.
Did you know that 1 in 10 of us will have a seizure in our lifetime? With 1 in 25 going on to be diagnosed with epilepsy. Any one of us can be diagnosed at any age, regardless of gender, race or family history. Epilepsy WA works to support those West Australians living with epilepsy, and their families. As well as providing nationally recognised training, vital support services and information, Epilepsy WA has the largest seizure alert display in Australia and two seizure alert devices are available for loan to our members. We recently added a children's book library and work tirelessly to shine a light on epilepsy and reduce the stigma, that sadly still exists today.
Our Purple Walk is open to all abilities and all members of the community and takes place at Curtin Universities Edinburgh Oval South on a 1km paved, level walking track. There will be LIVE music, entertainment, merchandise stall, food & coffee trucks and much more.
All advance registrants receive a free gift. Register today to secure your spot www.purplewalk4epilepsywa.com.au and book by 31st January to take advantage of early bird prices.
We rely heavily on community support, and a large portion of this is from fundraising events and activities involving dedicated people like you.
You can fundraise alone or get a team together, dress in purple, set a goal and walk or run as many laps as you desire. The walk itself is a pathed 1km loop and suitable for all abilities. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed and highest individual and group fundraising. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination so get creative, go over the top and let everyone know that you stand for something!
Please note that we are trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible. There will be no balloons at the event and we will not have printed handouts of the event guide at the Walk. All information will be emailed to registrants prior to the event.
The "on the day" registration desk will open at 1030am and the iconic first lap, led by the Perth Metro Pipeband, will commence at 1130am promptly.
Member tickets are always cheaper so become a member today www.epilepsywa.asn.au/membership/
Please bring along your booking confirmation, comfortable walking shoes, hat, sunscreen and a water bottle. Eftpos payment facilities will be available at the event.
Due to the fact that there is an Animal Farm at this event and the needs of some of our community members, this is not a dog friendly event with the exception of Assistance and Seizure Alert Dogs, which are allowed.
We hope you will join us for this very special and memorable day. What our community we will gain from your awareness raising and fundraising efforts is invaluable, and for that we cannot thank you enough! Together we can make a difference.
