Beats Cartel is back with the third instalment of annual minifest Purgatory, this time returning the clouded legions to the Gold Coast for what will be a massive day of sonic experimentation come Easter Sunday.
Formed in the sun-baked deserts of Southern California, Yawning Man are pioneers of the desert rock sound—hypnotic, instrumental, and deeply atmospheric.
With roots stretching back to the generator parties of the early Palm Desert scene, their music blends surf-inflected psychedelia, loose improvisation, and expansive groove, influencing generations of heavy and experimental bands worldwide.
This Australian tour sees Yawning Man joined by Mario Lalli and the Rubber Snake Charmers (feat. Sean Wheeler), delivering a rare and powerful slice of authentic desert culture—raw, soulful, and unmistakably from the source.
Joining the US pioneers in Purgatory are Melbourne face-punchers Grim Rhythm, Brisbane edge-pushing Psych crew Holystone, local experimental and much loved crews Cannabyss and Zenith plus straight up and down rock venue faves Handful of Helmet.
