Public Philosophy Lecture: The Subliminal Ideology of The Capitalist Mind
American capitalism has long outgrown its role as an economic system and developed into a pervasive and ubiquitous cultural ideology that subliminally influences how we think, what we do, and how we define ourselves. Drawing from his upcoming book, The Subliminal Ideology of The Capitalist Mind, Judah Venturi explores how capitalism captured American culture, embedded itself in our identities, and quietly replaced human values with market values.
Through philosophy, social psychology, cultural analysis, and historical insight, this lecture examines the ways in which capitalism captures more and more of human life and repurposes it to generate capital — a process that occurs outside of conscious awareness.
About The Speaker:
Judah Venturi is a philosopher whose work integrates cultural theory, psychology, neuroscience, anthropology, and historical analysis. His recent research focuses on how capitalist ideology shapes identities, values, perception, and world-views, and how awareness of these hitherto subliminal processes can help us liberate ourselves from an ideology that does not serve our well-being.
