About this Event
Anxiety Disorders are the most common mental illness comprised of a spectrum from mild to severe and incapacitating. Commonly the outcropping of unresolved attachment trauma, anxiety symptoms can be present as social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder and post traumatic stress disorder among others. Typically more than one of these diagnoses are present at the same time, as is a diagnosis of personality disorders, somatic symptom disorders and other conditions, such as depression and addiction.
Because ISTDP works at the level of changing unconscious emotional and behavioural patterns, it can be applied across the spectrum of anxiety disorders. In addition, these anxiety disorders can fall across the two spectra of patients with psychoneurotic disorders, and patient with fragile character structure. Hence, in order to treat the spectrum of anxiety disorders, the clinician must understand the psychodiagnostic and treatment requirements of these different patient categories.
In this course, we will cover the psychodiagnostic and treatment ingredients that can be beneficial in a relatively short treatment course for patients with the spectrum of anxiety disorders.
