Project ESME and the E.C.H.O. After School Student Orchestra are excited to present a free performance for the Grand Rapids community at the Grand Rapids Lantern Festival at John Ball Zoo, a breathtaking celebration of Chinese cultural artistry! Join us for this free, exciting live concert experience for all ages on June 9th at 8:00pm and 9:00pm! The concert will feature Project ESME and students performing at the Zoo's Central Stage Plaza for The Grand Rapids Lantern Festival back for its fourth year with ALL NEW lantern displays. As Michigan’s only showcase of its kind, the Grand Rapids Lantern Festival illuminates the Zoo with handcrafted lanterns that intertwine the beauty of wildlife with profound Chinese traditions- from majestic dragons and phoenixes to the symbolic zodiac- creating an enchanting narrative of heritage and culture.
You will have two chances to catch this show at either 8:00pm or 9:00pm.

Project ESME is a 501c3 performing arts and arts education non-profit based in Grand Rapids creating community engagement and music education programs in West Michigan that serve students from underserved area schools, low-income households and diverse communities.
Project ESME's programs blend and fuse world class classical training and performance with an eclectic range of popular music genres to create more holistic, accessible and inclusive arts education outreach programs. These projects include community public outreach student performances, such as our "ESME at Celebration Cinema" concert series, neighborhood pop-up performances, summer camps for students, clinics for underserved public school orchestras and after school programs for student orchestra that offer free private and group lessons, workshops and youth training seminars.
