About this Event
Walk from Shoe Lane Library with the DCC team to Bridewell Foundation (just off Fleet Street). Our bespoke visit to their printing workshop includes seeing printing artifacts, learning about their historical presses, and printing our own postcards to take home.
Itinerary:
12:45 - Meet DCC team by table in Shoe Lane Library. We’ll then walk together to Bridewell Foundation, (just off Fleet Street).
· We will meet the team in their Printing Workshop. Some of whom used to work on Fleet Street in the newspaper industry.
· We’ll be shown historical printing presses and artifacts & answer any questions. Then we’ll be able to print postcards to take home.
14:30 - The DCC team will accompany participants back to Shoe Lane Library for a cuppa afterwards.
Access information:
There is unfortunately currently no step-free access to the print workshop.
From the main entrance via Salisbury Court and St Bride's Passage, the workshop is accessible down a flight of 19 steps, which is separated into three short sections with a small landing between each. From Bride Lane, the workshop is up 3 steps to the building entrance from street level, plus a further 9 steps. The door to the print workshop has a small riser. An accessible bathroom is located by the main entrance (upstairs from the workshop).
